8月4日（火）外国学科の留学生、交換留学生を含む27名が、夏のスポーツ・イベントに参加しました。

留学生の中には、初めてアイススケートを経験する人もいましたし、オランダからの交換留学生は、アイススケートが得意です。ことばの壁を越えた助け合いがあり、日本人学生、留学生、交換留学生がスケーティングを思う存分、楽しみました。オランダからの交換留学生2名にとっては、帰国前の「さよなら」イベントでした。春学期の思い出を語り合いながら、友情を温めました。笑いと笑顔が絶えない、思い出深い国際交流イベントになりました。

On Tuesday, August 4th, the Department of Foreign Studies at Kibi International University, Okayama Campus, held their second faculty sporting event of the semester - ice-skating at the nearby Kokusai skate rink! This has become a very popular event and the limited 30 spots available were quickly filled. I believe many of the students were so excited to try an activity that is not so common, and that takes place in a very cool and comfortable spot during the hot and humid Japanese summer!

What was so special to see was the mix of Japanese students and international students joining the event, with participants from around 7 different countries. Some students who come from very warm countries have never had the chance to try ice skating before, but they certainly tried their best and had a great time.

And as always, when we have one of these sporting events, it’s amazing to see all the students, regardless of school year or nationality, mixing together, helping each other and new friendships being made. All in all, by the sounds of all the laughter and the big smiles on the students faces, it was another successful and…very COOL event!
