「さなぶり」とは、田んぼの神様に、田植えが無事に終わったことへの感謝と五穀豊穣を願って、また共に田植えをした仲間たちの労をねぎらって、そのときに行う飲食の行事のことをいいます。

６月２１日(土)、農学部（南あわじ志知キャンパス）では、大学近くにある実習農場（南あわじ市志知松本）で、農学部の学生を中心に、昔ながらの手植えによる田植えを行いました。

この日の田植えには、外国語学部（岡山キャンパス）から、外国学科１年生に加えて、交換留学生やカナダからの短期研修団ら総勢30名、そして高梁キャンパスからも、20名程が参加しました。さらには、南あわじ市内からも地元小学生が加わり、農学部の学生と合わせて総勢200名程が、今年度のさなぶり祭に集いました。

実習農場の水田に、参加者らは裸足で入り、丁寧に苗を手で植えていきました。苗を植えた後は、例年恒例となっている泥相撲大会が行われ、大変な盛り上がりを見せました

その後、参加者らは南あわじ志知キャンパスに移動し、田植えの労をねぎらうと共に、今年度の豊作を祈ってさなぶり祭が行われ、バーベキューに舌鼓を打ちました。外国語学部から参加した学生からは、「良い経験がした。」「農学部の学生と仲良くなった。」「バーベキューは大変おいしかった。」「また来年も参加したい」といった感想が聞かれ、学生生活の貴重な思い出となったようです。

 

On Saturday morning, June 21st, a large group of KIU first year students, along with international and study abroad students, boarded a bus at 8am and started their journey to Minami-Awaji Campus to join in the ‘Sanaburi Festival’. With only a few clouds in the sky it was a nice bus ride, and spirits were high as many beautiful views of the Seto-Inland Sea were enjoyed. After arriving at the event, many students quickly got ready for the rice planting activity and didn’t hesitate to get dirty and experience traditional hand planting of rice. After the rice planting, we were entertained by students from the Takahashi Campus who bravely partook in a Sumo contest in one of the muddy rice paddies! All this certainly built up a big appetite for everyone and we were not disappointed by the impressive BBQ lunch put on by the wonderful hosts at Minami-Awaji Campus. Besides enjoying the rice planting with many students from other campuses, the BBQ lunch provided even more of a chance for students from different campuses to socialize. It was great to see students BBQing with each other, laughing and chatting. Not surprising, the bus ride back to Okayama Campus was a quiet one…a good indication the students used a lot of energy enjoying themselves to the fullest, showing it was a very successful event!
